This is guidance for ACC in 08. Thus information may (most likely will)
change command to command and base to base.
Current average time in grade and time in service for promotion to the following
TSgt/MSgt Grade TIG Years TIS Years (Updates as Necessary)
TSGT 5.25 10.91
MSGT 4.27 17.02
Under General Moseley's philosophy he was asking Commanders to look at several
factors for STEP promotion consideration to include avoiding the perception of
promoting below the zone. A good benchmark to use is TIG/TIS, this will at least
keep us within the spirit and intent of STEP and on track with the CSAF
philosophy.
Eligibility Requirements:
Senior Airmen must complete the Airman Leadership school and Technical Sergeants
must complete the in-residence NCO Academy before promotion to MSgts. No
individual can be promoted more than once in a 12 month period under any
combination of promotion programs (exception: senior airmen must serve 6 months
time-in-grade before promotion to Staff sergeant), and the minimum
Time-in-service- requirement for promotion to Staff Sergeant through Master
Sergeant of 3, 5, and 8 years respectively cannot be waived. Also, nominees must
not have any negative quality indicators which may prevent a potential
promotion.
Strict adherence to AF, ACC and WG guidance is the WG/CC's philosophy. With that
said please review the requirements for package submission below:
