ENLISTED TRAINING
Training is a critical part of an enlisted person’s career progression, specifically upgrade training. Upgrade training is tracked using the Career Field
Education and Training Plan (CFETP). With the exception of just a few, all Air Force specialties have a specific CFETP. CFETPs are available through your unit’s
Customer Account Representative (CAR).
If you directly supervise an enlisted person who is in upgrade training, ensure they provide you with their Training Records (AF Form 623) and ensure you
have a current CFETP. Read it through carefully so you are aware of all the training
requirements for successful career progression.
Probably the most critical aspect of upgrade training is completion of the the career field Career Development Course (CDC).
Successful completion of any CDC depends on direct supervisory involvement to ensure the trainee stays on track
for timely completion. While there are some exceptions, trainees are typically given up to 12 months to complete their CDC. Individuals in upgrade training will
not be awarded the new skill level without completing their CDC, therefore it’s easy
to understand its importance to the career progression of an enlisted member.
In addition, if you have specific questions concerning any training situation, contact your Unit Training Manager or the Military Personnel Flight’s (MPF)
Training Section.
