SUBJECT: Letter of Reprimand - Chain of Command
1. Saturday, April 6, 2003 you failed
to follow your chain of command. You discussed issues
with the Wing Commander with out addressing them with your immediate supervisor,
MSgt
Dilbert.
2. You are hereby reprimanded. You have engaged in aberrant behavior which
will not be
tolerated from a member of the United States Air Force. Your past behavior has
raised serious
questions about your ability to remain in the United States Air Force. The chain
of command is a
system known to all branches of the military. When used properly, it is an
effective tool to solve
problems at the work site or to simply find out your job description. No matter
your rank within
the military structure, it is your duty to know your chain of command and use it
properly. This
will allow you and your command staff to solve problems at the lowest level
possible. Your
chain begins with you, then your immediate supervisor, then to their supervisor
and so on.
3. Using your Chain of Command is simple and effective. To have access to
the Flight
Commander and 1st Shirt, you must first ask your immediate superior in your
chain for
assistance. The first thing that you should learn is where you fit into the
Chain of Command.
You can start by looking at the Organization Chart posted on the bulletin board.
When you have
an official question, complaint or compliment just write an official memo and
pass it up to your
immediate supervisor.
4. If you find that you have exhausted your chain of command and not
received satisfactory
results you may go to the Inspector General (IG). The IG is a tenant unit of all
active duty,
reserve and guard installments and reports only to the Headquarters of the
Inspector General –
they are not a part of your chain of command. You may schedule a meeting with
the IG and
voice your issues, without fear of reprisal from your command staff. The IG will
investigate the
issue and give you the results to your inquiry.
5. PRIVACY ACT. AUTHORITY: 10 U.S.C. 8013. PURPOSE:
To obtain any comments
or documents you desire to submit (on a voluntary basis) for consideration
concerning this
action. ROUTINE USES: Provides you an opportunity to submit comments or
documents for
consideration. If provided, the comments and documents you submit become a part
of the action.
DISCLOSURE: Your written acknowledgment of receipt and signature is
mandatory. Any
other comment or document you provide is voluntary.
6. You will acknowledge receipt and return this letter to me within 3
workdays of your receipt.
Your signature on this document is solely for receipt purposes and is not an
admission of guilt.
Any comments or documents you wish to be considered concerning this LOR must be
included
with your response.
