Dear [Employer]:
As the commander of the
[unit name], I would like to personally thank
you for your efforts in providing exceptional support to
[Rank] [First Last Name] who
voluntarily serves in the Air Force Reserves.
There are 1.2 million men and women in the National
Guard and Reserve. This figure
accounts for about half of our total military forces and they are being called
upon more often to
defend our country. The “weekend warrior” mentality is now gone and a feeling of
military pride
and service has lifted the National Guard and Reserve to the same level as the
full-time military.
Since Sept. 11, 2001, more than 309,000 National Guard and Reserve personnel
mobilized for
the war on terrorism. During Desert Storm, 250,000 mobilized, for generally
shorter active duty
periods.
This is why it is extremely important that
[Rank] [Last] attend weekend drills
and annual
training. It provides [him/her] the
necessary military training and skills to be prepared for the
battlefield of the 21st century.
You and [Company]’s
unwavering and substantial commitment to supporting Reserves
and the military community is vital to our national defense. Without your
support we could not
maintain a strong military or sustain the current effort to overcome the
international terrorist
threat directed at our country, our citizens, and all who love freedom.
Sincerely,
[FIRST M.. LAST], [Rank], USAFR
