Memorandum

Reinstate Driving Privileges

Key Points to Writing
  • f you haven't already, Take a writing class. English Comp will do.
  • WRITE!!! The more you do it, the better you get.
  • Ask for HELP, not knowing what you are doing can hurt you, your "Airmen" and unit.
  • Use various writing resources like Merriam-Webster Online
  • Use a spell checker.  (F7 Word)
  • Remember, there is a purpose for writing a letter or MFR.

The following Example has been taken out of a Word.  If you have anything you would like to submit, please do so.  If you have found this information useful, please let me know. Everyone of these letters has taken considerable amount of time to put together.  Please treat yourself to something special from one of the ads on the page.  We will both get something out of it.  (All money gathered pays for hosting fees and domain fees.  HONESTLY, when I see money come in it also prompts me to work harder on the site.)

MEMORANDUM FOR ### MXS/CC
                                        ### SFS/SFAR
                                        ### SPTG/CD
                                        IN TURN

FROM: ### MXS/LGMG (Amn Joe Jackson)

SUBJECT: Reinstatement of Base Driving Privileges

1. Request my driving privileges on <NAME> AFB be reinstated. They are currently suspended
until May 2003.

2. I believe this suspension is unwarranted. In May 2001, prior to deploying to Al Jaber AB, Kuwait, I was arrested by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office for driving on a suspended license. At the time of arrest, I was unaware that my driver’s license was suspended. Years before, I received a speeding ticket in West Virginia, which I promptly paid. However, the Department of Motor Vehicles in West Virginia claimed they never received payment and sent me several notices warning me of the non-payment. Unfortunately, they sent these notices to a previous address that I no longer resided at; therefore I never received them and wrongfully assumed that the citation had been paid. Had I known there was a problem, I would have resolved it immediately. As it turns out, I sent another payment in May 2001, and now have a current driver’s license.

3. Please consider my situation and reinstate my driving privileges on <NAME> AFB. The suspension is a result of a misunderstanding that I have corrected. Please contact me at XXXX if you have any further questions or need additional clarification. Your consideration in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Comment:

I had a troop that ran into a similar issue.  After about 3 weeks his driving privileges were reinstated, but it is completely up to the "airman" to prove innocence.
