Memorandum

Memorandum for Indebtedness

Key Points to Writing
  • If you haven't already, Take a writing class. English Comp will do.
  • WRITE!!! The more you do it, the better you get.
  • Ask for HELP, not knowing what you are doing can hurt you, your "Airmen" and unit.
  • Use various writing resources like Merriam-Webster Online
  • Use a spell checker.  (F7 Word)
  • Remember, there is a purpose for writing a letter or MFR.

The following Example has been taken out of a Word.  If you have anything you would like to submit, please do so.  If you have found this information useful, please let me know. Everyone of these letters has taken considerable amount of time to put together.  Please treat yourself to something special from one of the ads on the page.  We will both get something out of it.  (All money gathered pays for hosting fees and domain fees.  HONESTLY, when I see money come in it also prompts me to work harder on the site.)

MEMORANDUM FOR NORWEST FINANCIAL
                                       1300 EASTMAN AVENUE, SUITE 102
                                       VENTURA, CALIFORNIA 93003

FROM: <##> <SQU>/CCF
<UNIT ADDRESS>

SUBJECT: Indebtedness Letter, dtd 11 July 1997 (re: SSgt)

Dear XXXXXXXXXXX,

This is in response to your request for assistance in liquidating a financial obligation with SSgt xxxxxx. I was able to discuss your complaint with SSgt xxxxxxx. He should be contacting you within the next week. SSgt xxxxxxxx has been briefed about how the Air Force expects its members to pay their just financial obligations in a timely manner. However, it has no authority to arbitrate, intervene in, or enforce settlement in matters of this type. They are of a private civil nature for resolution in the civil courts and by any other available civil remedies.

When appropriate, the Air Force does take action designed to improve discipline and to maintain the standards of conduct expected of Air Force personnel, but such action cannot be used to require a member to satisfy a personal financial obligation.

I hope the above information clarifies the limits of Air Force authority in this matter.
