Key Points to Writing
- PCS/PCA Decorations will be based on EPRs/OPRs
- Achievement
Decorations read like awards, and will need a narrative for justification
- DO NOT plan on making up mid-tour points
in a PCS medal
- Ask for HELP, the only person looking out for #1
is you
- The only person looking out for your Airman is YOU!
- ASK for/WRITE
a Mid Tour decoration
- WRITE!!! The more you do it, the better you
get
- Use F7 to spell check. Errors reflect badly on you and your subordinate!

The following Air Force Commendation Medal (AFCM) for meritorious service example has been taken from a
Word Doc. If needed some location and mission information has been changed to protect myself and the
people I have received the package from. If possible, a little insight
will be given if it has been related.

CITATION
SENIOR AIRMAN
MERITORIOUS SERVICE
27 MARCH 1994 TO 1 APRIL 1998
Senior Airman <FNAME> <MI>. <LNAME> distinguished herself by meritorious service as Manual/Electronic
Warfare Systems Journeyman, 48th Component Repair Squadron, 48th Logistics
Group, 48th Fighter Wing, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England. During this
period, Airman <LNAME> consistently displayed professionalism and dedication to duty
surpassing that of her peers. Her keen attention to detail was crucial to
identifying incorrectly keyed connector savers used to modify internal
countermeasures systems. She promptly initiated a product quality deficiency
report, alerting F-15 bases world wide prior to any assets being damaged. As a
team leader, Airman <LNAME> commitment to excellence led to a 100 per cent pass rate on
test station preventive maintenance inspections, and directly contributed to RAF Lakenheath’s electronic warfare stations achieving the highest mission
capability rates in the entire Air Force. During the 1996 North Atlantic Treaty
Organization Tactical Evaluation, she flawlessly performed external tank
build-up duties which resulted in the support area receiving an “Excellent”
overall rating. The distinguished accomplishments of Airman <LNAME> reflect credit upon
herself and the United States Air Force.
, Col, USAF
Commander, 48th Logistics Group
