Key Points to Writing
- PCS/PCA Decorations will be based on EPRs/OPRs
- Achievement
Decorations read like awards, and will need a narrative for justification
- DO NOT plan on making up mid-tour points
in a PCS medal
- Ask for HELP, the only person looking out for #1
is you
- The only person looking out for your Airman is YOU!
- ASK for/WRITE
a Mid Tour decoration
- WRITE!!! The more you do it, the better you
get
- Use F7 to spell check. Errors reflect badly on you and your subordinate!

The following Air Force Achievement Medal (AFAM) for outstanding achievement example has been taken from a
Word Doc. If needed some location and mission information has been changed to protect myself and the
people I have received the package from. If possible, a little insight
will be given if it has been related.
If you have anything you would like to submit, please do so. Also, if
you have found this information useful, please let me know. Everyone of these
items has taken considerable amount of time to put together. Please use

prompts me to work harder on the site.)

STAFF SERGEANT <FNAME> <MI>. <LNAME>
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT
5 October 2003 TO 1 November 2004
Staff Sergeant <FNAME> <MI>. <LNAME> distinguished himself by
outstanding achievement as Electrical Power Production Craftsman, 2d Civil
Engineer Squadron, 2d Mission Support Group, 2d Bomb Wing, Barksdale Air Force
Base, Louisiana. During this period, Sergeant <LNAME> consistently demonstrated
professional skill, decisive leadership
and initiative to the continued success of the 2d Civil Engineer
Squadron. As a vital generator crew
leader, he revamped the generator operating instructions, one-line
diagrams, and user training criteria at 18 generator sites. Sergeant <LNAME>
trained 165 user agency personnel to ensure user competency and safety for
mission critical facility generators. Sergeant <LNAME> used his exceptional
mechanical and mentoring skills training five shop members on the replacement of
an engine radiator and associated equipment for a mobile electric power
generator. He responded to a burnt transformer standby call providing backup
generator power for 22 hours to four base houses. Sergeant <LNAME> was a member
of the BAK-12 aircraft barrier crew during Exercises AIR WARIOR and AIR
ADVERSARY. Sergeant <LNAME>’s efforts were instrumental in ensuring tail-hooked
equipped aircraft had as safe landing environment during in-flight emergencies;
preventing the potential loss of both highly expensive fighter aircraft and
pilot’s lives. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant <LNAME> reflect
credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

OK, this is annoying. PAY ATTENTION to your DECS.
If you use a prefab decoration example make sure the names and ranks fit.
I would have to think this was only a draft due to this. Also, if you are
grouping NCOs and Airman together for the same decoration, make two separate
ones. The one above gives the Airman the
same responsibility and roles as
the NCO, thus who deserves it? Or is it just an abuse of the Decoration
System? There were two Airman awards submitted with the same errors.
